AMS 6417 and AMS 6419 300M vac are ductile, low alloy steels that incorporate vanadium and silicon for exceptionally strong qualities. There is a greater carbon and molybdenum content for 300M vac AMS 6417 and AMS 6419 than the 4340 metal.
300M vac is an extremely strong alloy with high fatigue strength, which makes 300M vac an ideal steel for a variety of aerospace parts including landing gear, flap tracks and other high stress applications that require extreme amounts of durability, strength and a certain degree of ductility. 300M vac alloys are most common in the aerospace industry, as their extreme strength is not necessary for most other possible applications. The strengths of 300M vac alloys are extremely high, from 280 to 305 ksi, and 300M steels are vacuum melted, through-hardening alloys of exceptional toughness.
