Alloy Steel

Like all of our high temperature metals such as inconel, copper and aluminum alloy, alloy steel is a trusted material that stands up to the demands of aerospace, marine and aircraft industries.   Recognized for its toughness and endurance in high temperature settings, alloy steel is always in high demand.  This is the reason Advanced Global Materials carries a wide range of forms with aircraft quality and vacuum melted options.

Just a few of the grades we carry, include:

4340 alloy steel, a heat treatable, low alloy steel known for its toughness and capability for developing high strength after heat treating, while retaining good fatigue strength.  Typical applications include structural use such as aircraft landing gear and other structural parts.  Machining 4340 is best done with this alloy in the annealed or normalized and tempered condition.  It can be machined by all conventional methods.  4340 has good ductility in the annealed condition and most forming operations are carried out in that condition.  It can be bent or formed by spinning or pressing in the annealed state.  In terms of welding, the alloy can be fusion or resistance welded.  The temperature for tempering depends upon the strength level desired.

4130 alloy steel is utilized for its individual strength and pliability features.  Based on the requirements of the application, this grade may be selected for pliability over yield strength, or yield strength over pliability.  4130 is available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses for any application, ideal for custom bracket and tab production as well as custom motor or mid plates.  4130 is perfect for making your own custom brackets and tabs, as well as custom motor or mid plates and a variety of other uses.
