4340 Alloy

4340 is a heat treatable, low alloy steel known for its toughness and capability for developing high strength after heat treating while retaining good fatigue strength.  Typical applications include structural use such as aircraft landing gear and other structural parts.  Machining 4340 is best done with this alloy in the annealed or normalized and tempered condition.  It can be machined by all conventional methods.  To find out more about our 4340, or other metals and materials such as Inconel 625 sheet or Inconel 718 plate, contact us.

4340 Flat Bar

4340 has good ductility in the annealed condition and most forming operations are carried out in that condition.  It can be bent or formed by spinning or pressing in the annealed state.  In terms of welding, the alloy can be fusion or resistance welded.  The temperature for tempering depends upon the strength level desired.

4340 Plate

4340 is considered a "through hardening" steel such that large section sizes can still be heat treated to high strength.  4340 is available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses to suit every application.  We buy 4340 in large quantities and are able to pass that savings on to you.  Our inventory is premium quality and available to you by the foot or by full length.
