AMS 5662 is a nickel-chromium alloy that is composed of Nickel, Chromium, Iron, Columbium, Molybdenum, and Titanium. Boasting superior strength and solid ductility, AMS 5662 can be easily welded because of its precipitation response. The alloy is not prone to cracking or hardening, which allows it to achieve good formability. A non-magnetic and corrosion resistant alloy, AMS 5662 features desirable impact and tensile properties. Using a heat treatment, AMS 5662 can be age hardened. Its grain maintains austenitic properties, despite the temperature. With a machinability rating of 12% of B-1112, AMS 5662 is optimal when used in turning operations. It is typically produced through a VIM-VAR melting method, and ranges in length from 10 – 12 feet.
